Beta-secretase Complex With Inhibitor OM99-2: The transition state inhibitor OM99-2 is two chains, eight residues each. It binds to the substrate site of beta-secretase. The crystal structure of beta-secretase was generated with this inhibitor bound. This button will display the protein in a wireframe diagram, with spacefill display for active site inhibitor.
Active site aspartate residues: In this diagram you will see a zoomed in view of the conserved active site aspartate residues and cooresponding binding of the inhibitor side chains into the respective clefts of chains A and B on the enzyme.
Disulfide Bridges: Here the 3 disulfide bridges will be highlighted in beta-secretase. It is these structures that contribute to the selectivity of beta-secretase as a drug therapy target for AD patients.
